About this template

What is this template?

This document is a publishing contract specifically for book form publication. It contains provisions for Author's Corrections charges and a specific clause regarding the preparation of a subject-index. It is not an all-rights assignment as copyright remains with the Author except for the rights expressly granted.

When should you use it?

Use this document when an author has completed a typescript and a publisher wants to produce a book edition with royalty payments. Use a Copyright Assignment Agreement instead if the publisher intends to own the copyright entirely.

Mostly US and UK law. Some templates use general commercial terms that work across jurisdictions, and many note which law they're written for.
