Can my teammates see or edit all my files?

Only the shared ones. Every file in GitLaw is either shared with your organisation or private - you choose. Teammates see the shared files; private files stay yours.

You choose as you go

When you add a file - upload it, draft it, or sync it in - you choose whether it's shared with your organisation or private. You can change it later.

• Shared with the organisation - everyone in your organisation can see it.
• Private - only you can open it.

Seeing isn't editing

Seeing a shared file doesn't mean changing it. You choose whether someone can view or edit - editing always needs a grant.

What happens when you invite someone

A new member sees the files shared with the organisation - not your private ones. Inviting someone never exposes a private file.

If you're working solo

While it's just you, the choice doesn't show - nobody else is there to see anything. It starts to matter the moment you invite someone.

One thing to know

An organisation Owner can see all files in the organisation, including private ones. If a document is especially sensitive, keep it in a separate organisation.
