Re: Overdue invoice INV-2039 — second request
Dear Sir or Madam, Our invoice INV-2039 for £4,200.00 is now 45 days overdue, and our earlier reminder has gone unanswered. We would like to resolve this amicably, but we should flag that this is a commercial debt. Under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 we are entitled to statutory interest — currently £0.92 a day — plus a fixed recovery sum, on top of the principal. Please arrange payment within 7 days so this goes no further.

Re: Overdue invoice INV-2039 — Letter Before Action
Dear Sir or Madam, We write regarding invoice INV-2039 in the sum of £4,200.00, issued to [Client Name] and now 45 days overdue. Despite prior reminders, payment remains outstanding. This debt is a commercial debt within the meaning of the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998. Under that Act you are liable not only for the principal sum but also for statutory interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate, together with a fixed sum in compensation for the cost of recovering the debt. As at the date of this letter, those amounts are as follows:
| Principal (invoice INV-2039) | £4,200.00 |
| Statutory interest to date (45 days @ £0.92/day) | £41.42 |
| Fixed recovery compensation | £70.00 |
| Total now due | £4,311.42 |
Interest continues to accrue daily until payment is received in full. We therefore require payment of the total sum set out above within 7 days of the date of this letter. Should payment not be received, we reserve the right to commence recovery proceedings without further notice, including a claim through the County Court, and to recover the costs of doing so.
