Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Does my external lawyer or accountant see everything in my organisation?

It depends how you bring them in. There are two ways, and they see different amounts.

Option 1: share a Project

A Project is a shared space for a specific deal or matter. Share one and your lawyer sees only what's inside it - nothing else in your organisation.

You choose the scope:

ScopeWhat they see
BoundedOnly that Project's files and contacts
BroadAlso your organisation Profile and Playbooks (your saved preferences and positions)

Default to bounded unless you mean to share more. They work from their own GitLaw organisation, they're never billed to you, and their access begins and ends with the Project.

Option 2: invite them into your organisation

Invite your lawyer or accountant as a member and they're on the team - they see the files shared with your organisation, like any other member. Private files stay private unless you share them directly.

Which to use?

For a single deal or matter, share a Project - access begins and ends with the deal. For an adviser who works with you all the time, invite them in - and keep sensitive files private.

Revoking access

Shared a Project? Remove them from it. Invited them in? Remove them as a member.
