What is an organisation in GitLaw?

The short answer

An organisation is the home for everything you do in GitLaw - your contracts, your files, your people. You get one automatically when you sign up. If it's just you, that's fine: you're an organisation with one member, a team of one.

There's no "personal account" to outgrow

Some tools start you on a personal account, then make you migrate the day you add a colleague. GitLaw doesn't.

You're already an organisation from day one. When you invite someone, nothing moves - no migration, no re-setup. Your work stays exactly where it is.

What lives in an organisation

Your organisation holds the things that belong to the group:

• Contracts and documents
• Contacts and memory
• Reminders
• Members and their roles
• Billing

A few things travel with you instead - your profile, display name, language, theme, and notification preferences follow your login across every organisation you're part of.

When you might have more than one

At signup, GitLaw asks whether you're using it for yourself or for your business, and creates your first organisation. You can keep separate organisations for your personal life and your business - or one for each business.
