Who counts as a billable seat?
You pay for Paid Members of your own organisation. Two things never touch your bill: Free Members, and people at other organisations you share documents with.
Two kinds of member
Everyone in your organisation is a full member of the team. The difference is who funds their seat.
- Paid Member - a seat your organisation pays for. This is what "billable seat" means.
- Free Member - a full member who costs you nothing. They use the free AI allowance funded by GitLaw. Good for part-time collaborators, contractors, or family who don't need a paid seat.
Both are proper members with access to your shared documents. You just only pay for the Paid ones.
People you share with are not members
Someone at another organisation you share a file, folder, or Project with is not a member of your organisation - so they're never a billable seat. They work from their own GitLaw organisation, with their own credits. See Do I pay for people I share documents with?.
